Le Sans-Abri

Hey everyone here's a new oil painting I did recently.   I saw this man in Paris last month.   The title is 'Le Sans-Abri' which means the homeless man.

Here is the full composition.   The painting is 30x40" on canvas.

Some details of the painting.   I really enjoyed applying the paint thickly, wet over wet, with rough strokes and I would recommend having a go at being bold with brush strokes!

Some progress shots above, the painting was all done within 2 days.   If you have any questions or thoughts about the piece please leave a comment or tweet me.
Thanks to Bodard for the help on the name.
Thanks for looking. God bless.

Lord Sugar Digital Painting

Hey everyone, here's another digital painting; this time it's Lord Sugar, business man and star of The Apprentice UK.   Again I tried to keep the brush strokes quite rough and lively and not get carried away with details.

I sent the painting to some past Apprentice candidates and Claire Young, Lee McQueen, Siarah Kahn and James Max kindly tweeted it for me.   Lord Sugar saw and tweeted me before tweeting the painting to his followers.   It was a blessing to become trending in the UK on Twitter for a few minutes last week after Lord Sugar shared the painting.

Thank you to Pete for the reference. http://www.flickr.com/photos/imongie/
I received some very nice tweets after Lord Sugar shared my painting and I would like to thank Hannah W and Chloe Anne for their really kind comments.
Thanks for visiting. God bless.

Trace Adkins Digital Painting

Hey everyone, here's a new digital painting of American Country Music artist Trace Adkins.   Trace has an amazing voice and is an incredibly humble guy.   He was excellent on the Celebrity Apprentice 2008 and always stayed calm even when things were going wrong and his team members were arguing.

With this painting I wanted to have a really strong light beaming down on him and I hope I have captured his gentle smile and calm demeanor.   Thank you to Annette Baesel for the reference photo.

Thank you for looking.   You can see the video for 'Muddy Water' - my favourite song by Trace here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmNW0_fnuDU&ob=av2n

Wally West - 'Beathoven' Acrylic Cover

Hey guys, I hope you're all well. I was contacted by Wally West A.K.A J. Diablo recently about doing a piece for the cover of his mixtape 'Beathoven'.   Wally was interested in a piece focusing on oranges and blues and so the final piece is an acrylic painting, done mainly with a palette knife and then a small paint brush.
The painting is on a piece of canvas and is approximately 33 x 29cm.

To check out and download 'Beathoven' please visit Wally's site here: http://jdiablo.wordpress.com/
Thanks to Wally for the support and thank you all for visiting. God bless.

"17 Sundays" Oil Painting 23 x 30cm

Hey everybody - here's a new oil painting - "17 Sundays".   I'm really enjoying experimenting with oils and it was fun to try something other than a portrait. Above is a cropped version and below is the whole painting, done on primed canvas paper.

Thanks to Saf Shaikh for the reference. I'm looking forward to doing some more oil paintings soon.

Tim Tebow 'John 3:16' Oil Painting 18" x 14"

Hey everyone - here is my finished oil painting of Tim Tebow 'John 3:16'.
This was my first real go at doing an oil painting in the 'Alla Prima' style, where it is done all in one go (literally 'first sitting/attempt') - it was a fun experience and I learned a lot from doing it. I definitely want to improve on my colour mixing, but I watched some YouTube videos from Larry Seiler which helped.

I wanted to do this sketch based on the amazing story about him sharing the Bible verse John 3:16, which I encourage you to listen to on the video below, he tells it at around 2 minutes 50 seconds.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

- John 3:16

Here are some shots I took as I painted it, as you can see at the start the face looked way too wide but as you paint you constantly chisel the face and alter the features. If anyone has any questions about the procces feel free to leave a comment or tweet me.

Credit to Jeffrey Beall for the reference.
I also encourage you to take a look at my Aunty's paintings on her website: http://artygems.com/home.html  - A wonderful range of greetings cards and paintings.

I would also like to share this amazing poem about Tim Tebow by my friend Eleanor. We have both read Tim's autobiography which is an incredible and inspiring book and this poem was inspired by Tim and his relationship with God :

"Who you created me to be"

Brought here, unexpected, unbelievable.
A child from the concept of death.
This child,
Their path set out
what they will do,
What will be done.
Ready to be shaped, then set on their path.
Wait for Him on the sideline, He'll watch you play,
wait for Him in the morning, through to the end of the day.
He will see you, though you only feel Him,
and He will know you, though you may never truly know Him.
So far,
I've done this,
as I know to be right.
He hasn't and may never tell me which way to go,
but like old friends without saying, I'll know,
and in the end, I'll meet Him.
So when He sees me, we can nod,
and finally we will see one another,
and He can smile at me,
and for Him, and as He wants, for me also,
I will have the satisfaction to know, I ended strongly.
And have been, who You created me to be.

- EJ

Thanks for looking everyone and God bless.

Tim Tebow Sketch 'John 3:16'

Hey guys, I'm sorry I haven't posted anything in a while, I've been really busy with school work and stuff. I've been working on my drawing a lot and watching some excellent tutorials on YouTube from matthew39arch. Here is another sketch of Tim Tebow. I wanted to do this sketch based on Tim sharing the Bible verse John 3:16 under his eyes.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

- John 3:16

Also I was tweeted by Nicole Scherzinger, she kindly thanked me for my artwork of her which you can see here. I'd like to thank DJ Matt White for getting it to her.

Thanks everyone. God bless.

'Light of the world' - Happy Christmas

Celebrating Jesus' birth today:

"The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world."

- John 1:9

This sketch is just to show people the reason for this day, that Jesus Christ was born.

"In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning."

- John 1:1-2

"Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; He is Christ the Lord.;"

- Luke 2:11

The sketch is just in the hope that you all realise the meaning of the holiday - Jesus was born and Jesus loves you!
Credit to Martin Pettitt, Walter Foster and Rick Otto for the reference photos.

Thank you all and I wish everyone a Happy Christmas!
God bless.
"Yet to all who recieved Him, to those who believe in His name, He gave the right to become children of God."

- John 1:12
